Coffee For Weight Loss: Does It Really Work?

Coffee For Weight Loss: Does It Really Work?

Coffee for weight loss. Does it help? The answer is yes, but just like any other fad diet, you need to be careful. Coffee can help make up for the lack of food you may be missing out on. It’s one way to trick your body into thinking it’s getting enough nutrition.

Although coffee is not a one-size-fits-all solution for weight loss, it’s a viable option for those who want an alternative or don’t have time to eat breakfast or lunch. Here are some recommendations on incorporating coffee into your regimen for weight loss and good health benefits.

The Truth Behind Coffee For Weight Loss

The Truth Behind

Coffee For Weight Loss

Coffee can help you lose weight by tricking your body into thinking it’s getting enough nutrition. Coffee is known to function as an appetite suppressant.

A study found that “caffeine decreases perceived hunger, increases fullness, and decreases the desire to eat.” It means that coffee will help you eat less food and still feel satisfied.

Another study found that drinking four cups of coffee per day can reduce body fat by about 4%. It helps your body burn more calories throughout the day without feeling like you’re working out too hard or pushing yourself too much.

But just because coffee can help you lose weight doesn’t mean it’s always the best choice for everyone. Some people have gastrointestinal issues from drinking coffee, like diarrhea or stomach cramps, so make sure to talk to your doctor before trying this regimen for yourself!

The Weight-Loss/Weight-Gain Debate

Coffee has been around for thousands of years. More specifically, coffee has become a popular drink that many people consume daily in the last few decades.

Whether it’s because of its stimulant properties or the calming effect on the body, drinking coffee is associated with health benefits and weight loss.

However, some research shows that drinking coffee can also negatively affect your health and weight gain if you drink more than six cups per day

The debate continues whether or not you should be drinking coffee for weight loss. The caffeine in coffee can cause water retention and weight gain if consumed too frequently.

If you still want to drink coffee, make sure you’re doing so in moderation. (Less than 6 cups per day)

When Trying To Lose Weight

Does the type of coffee you drink make a difference if you try to lose weight? The answer is yes. Some coffees are better suited for when trying to shed some weight because they are lower in calories. Here is a list of the best coffees to use:

Black Coffee For Weight Loss

Black coffee is the best type of coffee for weight loss. It has no calories, and it’s a great way to start your day. It will also help you burn fat and increase your metabolism, which helps with weight loss.

NOTE: If you are prone to acid reflux, then drinking coffee with a little milk/skimmed milk can help alleviate the symptoms. You should also avoid black coffee which has high PH levels and acidic properties in order to prevent potential problems.

Coffee With Half and Half

Coffee with “half and half” is the second-best type of coffee you can drink for weight loss. It is because “half and half” has fewer calories than cream, but it still provides excellent flavor. It’s also a good idea to use light cream instead of regular cream in your coffee if you want to lose weight.

Coffee with Sugar-Free Syrup

Coffee with sugar-free syrup is also a good choice when trying to lose weight. It has zero calories, and it’s perfect for sweetening your drink without adding any fat or sugar. You can buy sugar-free syrups at most grocery stores.

Coffee With Soy or Skim Milk

Soy milk and skim milk are good choices when trying to lose weight. They contain fewer calories than regular milk, but they add great flavor to your coffee. You can also use fat-free half and half in your coffee if you want a creamier drink without adding more calories.

Coffee With Stevia or Splenda

Stevia and Splenda are great substitutes for sugar if you are drinking coffee for weight loss. They have zero calories, and they add great flavor to your coffee. You can buy Stevia and Splenda at most supermarkets.

A Good Diet Combined With Coffee And Exercise Is The Ideal Way To Lose Weight

Coffee alone is not a magic bullet to help you lose weight. The best way to shed weight and fat is to eat a healthy low-fat, high-protein diet and exercise.

However, in moderation, like 3 cups per day, coffee should be included in your diet regimen because the evidence suggests that it does help you lose weight.

The caffeine in coffee is also suitable for metabolism and digestion. A recent study suggests that drinking 3 cups of coffee per day can help you lose weight.

The study found that regular coffee drinkers had a lower body mass index, smaller waist circumference, smaller hips, and a lower body fat percentage than non-coffee drinkers.

Coffee is also an excellent source of antioxidants. Antioxidants are like the body’s own internal medicine. They fight free radicals, which are unstable molecules that cause damage to the cells in our bodies.

It is also rich in potassium, magnesium, and niacin (vitamin B3), which helps regulate your blood pressure, reduce bad cholesterol levels and improve your circulation.

These significant benefits will enhance your ability to exercise more efficiently, resulting in weight reduction. (See this study, 2021)

As for myself, my main focus is on (dieting 74%, coffee 1%, then exercising 25%). I drink 2 to 3 cups of coffee daily with skimmed milk and Stevia. My belief is that if you want to truly lose weight then you should exercise, follow a good nutrition regimen, and YES, drink that coffee.

Below is a recent photo of me. It was taken on December 18, 2021. I am 58 years old. I can attest that I do have experience in this field.

Coffee Can Stimulate Brown Fat Function (Thermogenesis)

Coffee by itself, without exercise, can also help you lose weight. Coffee is known to have an appetite-suppressing effect, which means it can help you lose weight and reduce body fat. This is because coffee increases metabolic rate, which helps burn fat faster. Coffee can also help you reduce cravings for unhealthy foods or sugary drinks, which will make it easier for you to lose weight. Furthermore, the caffeine in coffee helps increase the body’s metabolism and increase energy levels.

Another study showed that coffee could stimulate brown fat function (thermogenesis). The study stated that “Brown fat breaks down blood sugar (glucose) and fat molecules to create heat and help maintain body temperature.”

Cold weather activates your brown fat to help keep you warm, speeding up your metabolism. And as a result, it can make you lose weight. Coffee basically works on speeding up your metabolism, the same way cold weather does.

Frontiers Neuroscience published a comprehensive report on coffee and thermogenesis in February 2021, which stated the following:

  • Caffeine contained in coffee has been shown to induce lipolysis, thermogenesis, insulin secretion, and fat oxidation in both non-obese and obese humans (Astrup et al., 1990; Bracco et al., 1995; Acheson et al., 2004). In fact, consuming six cups of coffee (600 mg) within 12 h would be expected to induce a 100 kcal increase in daily energy expenditure.(Dulloo et al., 1989).

The evidence is clear. If applied correctly and carefully, coffee by itself can help you lose weight.

Consuming coffee for weight loss is possible and does work on its own by triggering thermogenesis, but it will work best with exercise and a good diet.

You should drink coffee that is low in calories. If you add whole milk or cream with lots of fat and drink 3 to 4 cups daily, you will be adding a lot of extra calories, defeating the whole purpose of trying to lose weight.

Listen to your body, it will tell you if you are drinking too much coffee. If you get any sort of uncomfortable symptoms, simply cut back on your intake.
