The interventions led to minor improvements in physical activity (1,235 daily steps), moderate gains on moderate to vigorous exercise (48.5 weekly minutes), and slight decreases in sedentary time (9.9 daily minutes).
The study discovered that physical activity monitors that provided feedback were more effective than those without any feedback for all outcomes.
The researchers are aware that the included trials varied in design. Due to cultural factors, they say the results may not apply to lower-income countries.
